What did he say?

We have entered the stage in communication where it is completely evident BP is telling us something, but we have NO idea what it is he's saying. Sometimes, he can sign enough to lead us to the point of understanding. Sometimes the context of the situation helps. And sometimes it's just a matter of guessing, and him shaking his head "No" until we get it right.

My favorite mode of communication from BP, though, is when he has discovered something. We get the "oh" or "oooo" or "WWWooow" that is overenunciated and includes a great deal of inflection. And it makes this Mommy's heart melt. Often, before he falls asleep, he finds all sorts of interesting things to fascinate him. The door is closed, so how do I know this? Because of the ohs, ooos, and WWWoooows that I hear over and over. The cutest of these three is the "oh" but particularly when it is the short oh, with a high pitch squeak to it. (I need audio right now.)

BP has also begun to communicate when he wants to be chased or tickled. We turned learning Gee's name (my dad) into a game... so now he'll say Ga-gee and run away. That means I am supposed to run after him saying "ga - ga - ga - ga" until I catch and tickle him at which point I say "geeeeee"! Dad will LOVE that.

BP is finally eating most everything again, is sleeping great, and in general we are going through a great joy-filled phase. Discovery is a wonderful gift, and I love watching-- even more, hearing -- BP discover!
